There are many unsolved problems of mathematics which can be understood by average K-12 classrooms.  MathPickle and The Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) are seeking sponsors to put up a $1,000,000 prize for each of thirteen unsolved problems - one for each grade K-12 - the prize money to be split between the person who solves the problem and their most inspirational K-12 teacher.

The objectives are:

  1. 1)to engage a wide spectrum of student ability.

  2. 2)entice teachers to push their students over the cliff-edge of knowledge.

  3. 3)combat math-phobia by removing the stigma of failure.
